Dr. Dennis W. Young obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY, and Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Houston Graduate School of Theology, Houston, TX.  He accepted the call to ministry in 1987 and was ordained in 1992.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Dr. Young currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Executive Board – Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT), Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Texana Center, and Trustee of the Baptist University of the Americas.  Dr. Young has also served as Second Vice-President for BGCT, President of the African American Fellowship (BGCT), member of the MRI Committee (BGCT), member of the Nominating Committee (BGCT), member of the Leadership Council - Union Baptist Association (UBA), member of the Trinity Pines Board (UBA), member of the Bond Committee (Fort Bend ISD), President of the Fort Bend Pastors Association, member of the Mayor’s Racial Harmony Committee (Missouri City, TX) and President of UER Toastmasters (Houston, TX).

Dr. Young has served on several short-term mission projects to Jamaica, St. Eustatius, South America, and Africa.

Dr. Young is married to Fanny Z. Young.  They are the parents of two children; Fandenia and Dennis II, and the proud grandparents of Carson.
